Job purpose: The Project Engineer is responsible for the individual management of mechanical and electrical schemes and maintenance activities.to the highest possible standard of quality, efficiency and with minimal wastage. To ensure a provision of a safe working environment for all colleagues
Key Responsibilities
The Overall Role
– To ensure that all works are scoped with the client on-site using relevant resource
– Provide technical knowledge on the repair, refurbishment, or replacement of equipment & plant
– To ensure that estimates are completed on time in line with service level agreements
– Attendance of internal launch/scope meetings with associated departments
– Pre‐construction process plan – develop, implement, and monitor
– Attendance of external start‐up, site visit, and design meetings
– Arrange and attend technical meetings with clients, consultants, and sub‐contractors
– Management of agreed resources, budget, scope, and program with the site services team
– Produce commissioning plans in conjunction with the site services team.
– Ensure documentation is in place for handover and sign-off.
– Ensure H&S documentation is in place
Key Role 1 – Assistance in Producing Target Prices
– Monitor Preconstruction process plan.
– Attend start up, site visits and design meetings..
– Assist the Estimating team with target price build-ups for new works
– Attend target price review meetings.
Key Role 2 – Design Co-ordination
– Liaise with ECS internal design department to ensure awareness of contract requirements.
– Arrange and attend meetings with clients, consultants and sub-contractors.
– Ensure drawings and documents, incoming and outgoing, are stored electronically and appropriately maintained.
Key Role 3 – Manage Installation & Commissioning Activities
– Produce method statements and risks assessments and other H&S documents for the required tasks.
– Approve Subcontractors method statements and risk assessments.
– Handle day to day on-site installation and commissioning.
– Attend Pre-contract meetings with Operations / Project Manager and subcontractors.
– Manage sub-contracts and orders.
– Attend progress meetings.
– Produce the commissioning plan in conjunction with Operations / Project Manager.
– Manage the commissioning activities.
– Ensure documentation is in place for handover and signed off.
Key Role 4 – Operation and Maintenance Manuals
– Ensure all sub-contractor and supplier information and drawings are as built and available for inclusion into manuals.
– Liaise with internal resource for production of accurate O&Ms.
Key Role 5 – Managing the Client Interface
– Producing HSEQ paperwork for submission to client.
– Attending update meetings at both operational sites and clients premises.
– Producing updated information and work summaries to clients.
Key Role 6 – HSEQ
– Compile relevant HSEQ documentation.
– Carry out site inductions, tool box talks and accident reporting.
– Liaise with HSEQ on relevant matters.
– Report any accidents/incidents or near misses that occur.
– Highlight any concerns of any breaches of company rules and document.
– Ensure any non-compliance issues are documented and investigated.
Other responsibilities

Competence Profile
Essential
– Previous experience working as a Mechanical Project Engineer
– NVQ Level 3 Engineering or HNC/HND
Desirable
– Ideally an NVQ or equivalence in the core role
– CSCS Card
– SMSTS
