Environmental Policy Statement

The company regards the promotion of Environmental Management measures as a mutual objective for management and employees at all levels and recognises the impact of environmental issues on business performance.

It is the responsibility of the Managing Director to formulate an environmental policy and to review it annually. The operation of the Environmental Management System will be monitored by the Director with environmental responsibilities.

It is therefore the Company Policy to do all that is reasonable to ensure that all environmental issues are assessed, actioned and reviewed relating to the company’s products, activities and services.

It is the policy of ECS Engineering Services Ltd that operations undertaken by this company shall be carried out, primarily to comply with Environmental Legislation, rules and to comply with customer requirements. We will comply with legislation through Croner updates, Envirowise and Netregs, any changes to legislation will be amended on our Register of Legislation.

In order to make sure we continue to improve in environmental management, we'll set objectives and targets for the activities where we significantly affect the environment. We'll measure our performance by reviewing our objectives and targets on a regular basis and conducting regular audits.

This policy will be run in conjunction with our Health Safety, Quality and Ethical policies.

In particular, the company has a responsibility to:

  • Implement and encourage the reduce, re-use and recycle philosophy wherever possible.
  • Commit to the prevention, reduction and control of pollution
  • To conform and comply with all current and new legislation and, where possible, to conform and comply with guidance notes with regard to Environmental Issues in all operations undertaken by ECS Engineering Services Ltd.
  • Monitor, update and maintain information and records on training, energy and fuel consumption and other relevant areas in order to have a clear indication of the company’s progress.
  • Provide relevant training, information and instruction to all employees to ensure they are able to perform their duties to the best of their ability and in conjunction with the implementation of any company procedures.
  • Provide facilities and tools for the implementation of new company procedures.
  • To make available and manage a reasonable and practical amount for financial support to aid the implementation of tools, utilities, information, training and procedures.
  • To continually improve and develop company procedures, technology and training, where practical and reasonable with the objective of improving the company Environmental Management System.
  • To co-operate with neighbours, sub-contractors, visitors, suppliers and customers and ensure they are fully aware of the company’s policies and objectives.
  • The Environmental Policy is made available and displayed on company sites, including our main reception area. An electronic copy of the Policy is also included within the company's Internet pages.
  • Work with our customers to promote conformity with similar objectives and work in a spirit of co-operation with the relevant authorities.

 

Employees have a duty to co-operate in this objective:

  • By working safely and efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • By using any specific equipment provided and by meeting statutory objectives.
  • By adhering to company procedures.
  • By reporting or communicating any incidents and ideas that will assist the company to initiate further improvements to its policies and working practices.

 

This policy forms the basis of continually improving the company’s EMS however its effectiveness relies on commitment from persons and stakeholders involved with ECS and the combined efforts of all employees to ensure its success.
